Lady Florence Bjelke-Petersen, former senator and Queensland first lady, dies at 97 …

This great Aussie has passed away today …

“She led a very full and successful life and was so-loved for her kindness, her genuine concern and care for others, her common sense and down-to-earth approach to life.”

No matter what your political persuasion this lady just cared about people. She made Queensland, Australia and for me better. Something the current lot of politicians should aspire to.

“Former senator Lady Florence Bjelke-Petersen has died at 97 years of age.

Lady Bjelke-Petersen was the wife of Queensland’s longest-serving premier, Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen.

“Lady Flo” as she was fondly known as was Queensland’s first lady for nearly 20 years.

As the grandmother of politics in the state, she was more famous for her pumpkin scones than her Senate career.” ABC News

“Lady Flo was an outstanding and much-loved Queenslander who made a wonderful contribution to the community of Kingaroy, Queensland and Australia,” Ms Frecklington said.

“As a senator for Queensland for 12 years, Lady Flo worked tirelessly for the betterment of rural and regional Queensland.”
